Wheelchair access

The Michael Fowler Centre has eight accessible spaces and eight companion seats located in the stalls on the ground floor of the venue. Elevator access is available from the ground floor.

Wheelchairs provided by the venue

Wheelchairs are available at the venue but require you to give advanced notice so we can ensure they are on-site during the event. If you would like access to a wheelchair, contact Venues Wellington.

Reduced mobility access

Theatre seating – Entrances are located on the first and second floors of the venue. For people with reduced mobility, there is elevator access to all floors from the ground floor foyer.

Additional information:
When seated, walkers need to be stored under your seat for the duration of the show, to avoid creating a safety hazard. If you need additional assistance at the venue, please ask our friendly staff, who are trained to help.

Parking, drop off and pick up points

  • The Michael Fowler Centre has no public parking available. However, the venue is in the heart of the city, so there is convenient street parking and parking buildings nearby. Check Wellington City Council's parking information.
  • The undercover drop off and pick up area is located at the front of the building. The entrance is off Wakefield Street, close to the Townhall.
  • If you're planning on driving to an event, allow extra time to find a carpark. Or if taking public transport, there are Metlink bus stops in the area.
